USES
PAVEGARD is a peel and stick self-adhering membrane designed to be used as a reinforcement beneath new pavement overlays on street, highway or parking lot reconstruction projects. PAVEGARD is used to stop reflective cracking and provide increased load bearing and waterproofing over cracks, repair joints, expansion joints, and alligatored areas. PAVEGARD may be installed over cracks only, or in full road-width applications as it also provides increased fatigue resistance, prolonging the life of pavement overlays.
CONSTRUCTION
PAVEGARD consists of a high-strength non-woven polyester fabric which is saturated with paving grade asphalt cement, then coated on one side with a self-adhesive rubberized asphalt coating. The upper side of the sheet is sand covered to provide a tack-free surface and the bottom side has a removable release film. When correctly installed, the membrane will stay in place to permit traffic or paving equipment to travel on it as required, prior to paving. Designed to soften and relax beneath a hot overlay, the membrane will become securely bonded to the old pavement beneath and to the new layer above once compaction is completed.
